Out of the box perfomance ?
« on: May 23, 2005, 07:13:42 AM »
Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum and also new to shooting. I did a lot of research and decided that the SP-01 would be an excellent gun to start with shooting. I live in the Netherlands, so we are not allowed to carry any guns with us, apart from when travelling to and from the shooting range. Further on, in the Netherlands we have to be a member of a shooting club for at least 1 year before you can apply for a gun permit of any kind to own a gun.

Having said all that, i ordered 'my' SP-01 today. I will get it in 4 weeks or so. What I would like to know is:

How does the SP-01 perform out of the box and what can i do to improve the performance of the gun if neccesary.

Thanks for any replies, end excuse my English writing.

Kris.

can't help with the right out of the box...as the one I have was worked on before I got it..

but it is it like my CZ75b..it will run right out of the box..the trigger my be a little rough but will smooth out as you shoot it..

what is done to my SP01..
new sights..fiber optic front and a higher rear..from Angus's website
new DA/SA hammer
lighter hammer spring
JackAsh FLGR
wolffe recoil spring ( 12lb)
grip tape..

it is running really well..trigger is smooth in DA and light and crisp in SA..so far has functioned 500 rounds with no failures..mix of factory and reloads...

Hi everyone,
As Stuart said the SP-01 is good to go out of the box.  I bought one of the first (maybe the first) SP-01's that Angus sold here in the US and I currently have a little over 2700 rounds through the gun.  My gun is box stock except for a set of Angus Comp Sights and a Wolff 15# mainspring and 12# recoil spring.  All of the rounds have been my 127 PF reloads and I have yet to have one FTF/FTE anything.  My gun also has the original hammer/sear, trigger except for the mainspring and I really like it.  One of my shooting buddies had a SP-01 that Angus converted to SA only and which has a little over a 1.5# trigger and I actually prefer my heavy trigger as his is a little easy to let a shot go too early (Although I am sure that I could get used to it quick enough)
