I am looking at buying a 94 prod. 75  I just want to know what I might be getting into.
(note) I am aware of the mag problem.

For that model, probably nothing.  That will be a transitiona with many features of the current 75b guns, and will probably use current magazines, too.

Does it have the "squared" trigger guard?   Probably has the newer sights, too.  (Check for a length-wise dovetail on the front sight.)

Not as pretty as the classic pre-Bs, but probably a more practical gun.

(Mags are about the only issue with the pre-B, as only stock, factory 10 and 15 rounders fit.   On the very oldest ones, some parts are getting rare, including parts associated with the safety which has an internal spring.  Newer models don't have that.  Look for a pinhole in the safety lever to know you've got an older one.)

Hi Walt,

I have a transitional that has the small hole in the safety.

This pistol gets a fair amount of use, especially since I bought a Kadet conversion for it.

Are there specific parts I should buy in order to have a "breakdown kit" on hand?   Is it likely that the factory (or others) won't continue to supply repair parts for the Pre-Bs and transitionals?

Thanks for any advice,
desmobob

If you have a small hole BUT a squared guard, you may be able to use ALL new parts - maybe.  Look to see IF there is a cut/slot for the safety spring IN the frame near the safety.  If so, you may be able to take a B safety.  The PReB safety you have is more snappy and fine, but has a detent and spring that are generally not available.  If you have slanted slide cuts and a square guard, the B slide stop will look OK on your gun.  I have one on mine.
