CGW CZ P-01 Questions from a New Member
« on: December 01, 2015, 05:40:05 PM »
This is my first post. Thanks in advance for any help received. I've had a full size 75 for years and used it in many competitions. I love this gun and so do my buddies when i let them try it. Most if not all shoot it better than whatever they brought to the house. The only modifications to the 75 are springs and polished by firing 15,000+ rounds. I have the chance to purchase a P-01 that has the Pro Package and other work done by CGW. Comes with a receipt for over $1,100 from CGW. I have shot the P-01 and it shot good but I am use to a little heavier trigger so I will probably keep the CGW hammer and install OEM springs to make the trigger a little more like what I,m use to. My questions are: Will this work? What is the resale value of this gun. I know you do not get your money back from all modifications. Thanks again.

Just noticed a a similar post to mine. After seeing it I think the $600.00 offer that I made was a little low but it was accepted! The P-01 comes with cocobolo, rubber, and plastic grips. Also all factory parts are included. Someone please let me know about the performance with a CGW hammer and factory springs.

If the P-01 has any of the packages by CGWs, it will have the extended firing pin which need the lighter FP, lifter and hammer springs to work properly.
I would keep the pistol as is and try to get use to the light pull before changing back to OEM.
It would be a sacrilege tho reverse a CGWs masterpiece.😥

I would email David @ CGW directly. He can make some recommendations to tune it to your liking. Very easy folks to deal with. You're the first person I've seen wanting to go back after shooting a CGW gun. Most people hear angels sing and start saving to "fix" their other CZs.

OP, is the double action pull too light for you or is it the single action pull that's too light? I'm not sure you could make the single action pull that heavy by just changing the hammer spring if it has a CGW hammer installed.

The single action is the only issue for me. I do a lot of double action revolver shooting. When I shot this pistol a couple of weeks ago it was comfortable to shoot every shot double action. I was thinking about using this as every day carry and I feel like the single action trigger is too light for that. My EDC is a DAO S&W 640-1 with a heavy trigger pull. I did some dry fire last night trying to get use to the CGW trigger. I have done a lot of shooting with a "normal" CZ trigger and it has always worked for me. I was thinking I could add a little weight to the trigger for safety. I don't really want to "learn" to shoot this trigger and then have no choice but to send my 75B to CGW. I will try it like it is for a while and see how it goes. Then contact CGW if needed.

You could add a factory TRS. That should  add a bit and won't affect any of the other mods.

CGW has a heavy FPB spring you can install that will bump up the SA trigger a bit.  I thought I heard he may have an x-tra heavy as well, not sure, but need to call because these are not listed parts.

If the #13 blue hammer spring is installed, you can go up to the gold #15 with the extended FP installed, but this will add a lot more to DA than SA

In SA operation the FPB spring gives a bit of a two stage effect so as the lifter block begins moving before the sear, you will feel it first before you get to the "wall".

Seems to work well on mine, putting the SA pull at just over 3# total. O0

I have the perfect idea!
I have a stock P-01 with stock trigger pull.
You have a Cajun P-01 with too light trigger.
We trade.
Both happy!
In all seriousness, most people would be happy to trade you a stock one plus some cash, for that P-01.

Thanks for the info. I might try the trigger return spring. I've been doing a lot of dry fire and put some rounds through it in the back yard. Still seems light for EDC use but I'm getting use to it! I can see my 75B making a trip to CGW now. Getting spoiled! Thanks for the generous offer Tuck but I'm going to stick with it for now.
