"trainer" or "lux"
« on: June 05, 2015, 11:05:38 AM »
I bought a nice used 452 .22lr recently. I was wondering if it were possible to verify the specifics on the rifle (date of mfg, stock wood, etc) with the serial number. I know it is either a trainer or lux edition from looking at photos of others. It has the schnable (sp?) end / humpback stock and the adjustable sights front and rear. Stamped on the receiver is 452-2E ZKM, serial #A937093.

Thanks

OK - so a little more skulking around tells me that the only difference is the stock material. Both are checkered usually I understand. I've had beech wood before and this looks a little more colored than your average cheap beech but not nearly as characteristically colored as English on my custom rifles. I've not tested hardness yet. I figure if I email CZ, they might get back to me eventually....maybe.

Can't speak on 452s since I couldn't get my hands on one, so on the 455s, the stamp on the right side of the receiver matches that on the barrel except the barrel also has the year of manufacture just to the left of the serial#.  This may be very different on 452s.

The guns are identical except for the stock.  One is beech(trainer) and the other is walnut(lux).

Year of manufacture is stamped on the side, left if I remember.

These guns are awesome shooters and the sport the best factory iron sights of anything out there for their price.

Looking forward to the pics.

while we wait for the horn to blow -

I have read a little about DIY trigger improvements, about the custom spring installs that supposed to help, etc. I adjusted my spring back and forth to get a feel for the range and left it all the way out as light as possible. It's not intolerable but the over-travel is aggravating and a little lighter would be nice. Short of installing an aftermarket item, what have guys done to their existing triggers to improve them?
I'm not a newbie to rifles or trigger work. I typically try to enhance most of my long gun triggers with polishing or even some light sear modification.

Reminds me, I've got a Ruger SS MkII M77 that I used for the first time last season I need to tinker with....love Rugers, hate their triggers..

I'm not aware of anything that will eliminate the over travel.

There are aftermarket sears that address creep, but not sure about over travel.

For me over travel on a bolt gun is a non issue, but everyone has preferences.

CZ has replacement sears, and most trigger parts, for 452's in stock right now so you could buy one and experiment.

There are also a couple of companies that sell replacement trigger groups. Timney and Rifle Basix come to mind. Maybe others.

Yep beech stock "Special Military Trainer".  Look identical to my three, yes 3.  Now I need to get them out and show them how much I love them.
