I just need to ask
« on: June 09, 2015, 06:43:03 AM »
OK, I've got a CZ 75 DB and a CZ 75D PCR that I love. Yesterday I picked up a CZ P-09 with the Omega trigger.
Can someone tell me exactly what the Omega trigger is?
The reason I ask is that I thought it was an improvement over the standard CZ trigger that I have on my 75's and quite frankly I much prefer the 75 non omega trigger to the trigger on the new P-09.
The DA pull on the 09 is so bad that I converted it to the standard safety so it can be carried cocked and locked rather than decoccked. This really isn't a problem as I carry 1911's cocked and locked all the time.
Mostly just curious.

I gather the "improvement" is more along the lines of simplification, ease of service. ease of manufacture, etc. Many find the trigger pretty nice out-of-the-box but I've never heard anybody say it's better than a broken in original trigger. My 75B Omega was improved with a lighter hammer spring and a bunch of dry firing.

Same with SpinyNorman, I changed the springs on my 75B/O which made a huge difference. With some light polishing, this all resulted in DA being 8 lbs and SA a crisp 3 lbs.

As for my P-07, I polished the internals to hasten the break-in effect; DA is now 8.5 lbs and SAis 3.25 lbs. Also change the recoil spring to CGW's 15# RS, making it easier to rack the slide and fully cycle each round reliably (the factory RS was too heavy for some ammo I was using).

Edit: Forgot to mention that the DA trigger on my P-07 was a bit gritty out of the box.  It improved immensely w/ the polishing (followed schmeky's post here: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=66147).  The 75B Omega had a smoother DA out of the box, so it didn't require as much polishing, but I replaced the springs on it (CGW's SPGK1) to come close to the P-07 which is still using the stock springs (hammer, firing pin, firing pin block plunger).

Thanks guys, that's pretty much what I was thinking. I have no issues with either the DA or SA on the 75's it's only the DA on the 09 where the issue is. I'll just leave the standard safety on and that resolves the issue.
