Are there problems with the way it's grouping?
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

New gun.....only 100 rnds....throwing some flyers, but trying hard to group!!
Barrel is lightly touching at forearm tip, I'll freefloat it and see how she does.
Just looking ahead for tips if needed..

Thoughts on bedding the rectangular plate beneath the action??

Looks like I'll need to do some bedding.....
Action rests in stock at rear action screw and barrel in forearm channel.
The rectangular spacer that the front action screw passes thru is loose with action in stock.
So, front of action is not supported, tension on the forward action screw stresses the action/barrel.

I could sand out the forearm till the spacer bottoms out and barrel free-floats......but action may not remain level in stock......

The other option is to screw spacer to action with a short screw to hold in place, and then bed the spacer before free-floating the barrel.....screw could be removed out the bottom of the stock.....

I think I'd bed it too after hearing what you just found.

You don't know that the action is level in the stock the way it is so sanding the forearm to allow the front spacer to 'land' might not be a bad thing.

since you had it apart.

have you checked into the torque for the stock/action screws?
