TiN coating
« on: June 30, 2015, 03:18:06 PM »
Question:  would you all recommend TiN (the gold coating) for a PCR barrel (and maybe stainless guide rod)?  I also thought about coating the hammer and polishing the trigger bar and have it coated as well to avoid any rust issues.

I have access to a coating facility so the cost is negligible.

Thoughts?

Not sure, but I do like the look of the P-07 in this thread...

Never tried it on a firearm, but I have had a couple of severely boat rashed Penn International 50T two speed reels plated with the stuff. It's very durable and corrosion resistant. 4 years and 8 long range fishing trips and they still look fresh.

Some people have it done to the gas pistons in their M1A rifles.  It's supposed to reduce wear/tear on the piston so it might be a good thing on the barrel of a semi-auto pistol as well.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I like the black/TiN coating scheme.  It reminds me of a Trans Am.
