S&B 115gr FMJ 9mm
« on: June 11, 2015, 12:22:29 AM »
Any thoughts on the S&B 115gr FMJ 9mm ammo? FTE? FTF? etc...?
I plan on making modifications with my hammer spring, firing pin, guide rod and recoil spring...so does the S&B perform well with a recoil spring of 11# - 13#?

I bought a case of it labeled as Herters from Cabela.  It's been fine for the few hundred I've shot.   I run a 12 lb rs.

S&B has been making ammunition since the late 1800's.  I think they've got it right or they wouldn't still be in business.

I've loaded their primers in several different calibers and find them almost as sensitive as Federal primers, so unless you lighten your hammer spring to a ridiculous level, they're going to fire in the factory version.

Hope this helps.

Have gone through a case of those same rounds with various CZC and CGW modified pistols (steel, alloy, polymer frames) without any hiccups. Sorry, I don't recall recoil spring weights that you asked about but I'm pretty sure at least a couple of those were running recoil and main spring weights on the lesser end of the scale. Plus, S&B is the most prevalent ammo brand in the ?R (naturally, as the homegrown product) although it's now owned by the Brazilian CBC group. Good shooting!

I have shot tons of S&B 9mm 115 grain ammo in Browning High Powers, Beretta Mod 92, CZ 75 and others with never a problem.  I understand that ammo is what CZ uses to test their guns with.

S&B is good to go. It is what CZ tests all their hand guns with. If I can find it, it is my preferred factory ammo.

i've also fired very many of these without any problems and also keep them in stock. 115gr fmj and jhp and 140gr fp subsonic.
S&B is/was the preferred test ammo for CZUB.
i also use the S&B sp primers all the time and never any issues.
