Securing Plastic Meprolight
« on: January 02, 2016, 11:02:39 AM »
Just added a pair I had previously ordered to my P-07.  It fits snugly in the dovetail in both the front and the rear.  I am not sure I am going to stick with them because I don't think the plastic will stand up to creative slide racking.  In any case, there are no holes for set screws and I am not sure if Locktite will secure the plastic to the metal.  Anyone know if they are just supposed to be tensioned in there or if there is an alternative method to secure the sights, especially the rears.  Thanks for any help.

I had the plastic mepros on my 1st gen P-07 and never had an issue with the rear sight. The front was another matter and wanted to remove itself under recoil. I used a dab of JB weld under it and that cured the problem. I used the long cure (17 hour) JB not the quickie 5 minute stuff. The good thing is now they have steel sights for the P-07 with set screws.

Thank you for the reply.  I will take a "wait and see" posture and use the JB weld should it become and issue.
