What magazine spring to choose
« on: August 08, 2015, 10:15:37 AM »
Hi,

I made open gun (9mm major), from CZ85 slide, CZ75 frame, TS 9mm barrel etc....
Now I have issue with mags. I have Shadow magazines with +4 long aluminium pads and +czc spring follower kit10. If I fill magazine full (25 is hard to put in 24 goes), I have nose dive when loading the gun (even manually). If I fill mags with 21..22 rounds, no problem.

So do I need stronger or weaker springs? Where to order?

THANKS in advance for comments and ideas :-)

kapa,  I have a smaller mag base giving a 22 rd capacity,  but I have the same problem you're experiencing if I do load 22. The top round won't feed.  I load 21 with one already in the chamber.  The 22nd rd is a tight fit.

I haven't found a spring weight option. :-\

I think Stuart might be able to reply here. To me, seems, maybe, that a stronger magazine spring is needed (from the kit 13 perhaps).

Hi,

That's what I'm thinking too.... I can easily try milder spring by destroying one I have now (cut one "round of") :-)

Up-date...

I ordered from CZ Custom shop new springs (kit 3 springs and extra long springs). They were shipped next day, WOW :-) I was SUPRISED, excellent service AGAIN...

At the moment I can not yet test them (work trip...), but later in autumn.....

I let you know the results....
