Need advice/opinion on CZ 97 (45ACP)
« on: November 05, 2015, 08:47:36 PM »
My first 1911 was a Sig Sauer Stainless. A couple months later when I bought a Colt 1911 XSE, I didn't realize until taking both to the range that the Colt has noticeably lighter recoil (again, both stainless 1911s).  Both pistols are OEM so I can only assume it's an engineering issue (recoil spring weight?) as to why the recoil on the Colt is lighter then the Sig. Nevertheless,...

I'm considering a CZ 97B and would like to know from those who may also own a Colt or Sig 1911 how the recoil measures up.  Is it the same or lighter from either of the two 1911s? I know I'm not comparing apples to apples due to platform and unfortunately, I don't have a range within 60 miles that has a CZ 97 to try.

I have a Sig 220, 227 and a Baer 1911 along with a CZ 97 B. The 97 is the lightest recoiling .45 I have ever fired.
Musashi:
- In all forms of strategy, it is necessary to maintain the combat stance in everyday life and to make your everyday stance your combat stance. (situational awareness).
- You can only fight the way you practice.
- If you do not control the enemy, the enemy will control you.

I run a Glock 41, Glock 30sf, S&W 1911 Performance Center, & CZ 97B. I like the way the 97B shoots best of all
It's never too late to become the person you could have been. . . .

The 97 recoils extremely soft compared to anything 1911 I have fired and there have been quite a few over the years. The 97 is a totally different .45 experience than a 1911 in my opinion and I like mine very much. They come out of the box as accurate as most and more so than many 1911's and with the upgrades available they become as accurate as 1911's costing thousands and you still haven't broken the 1k mark with the 97.
With all that said something you can look at on your 1911's is the shape of the bottom of the firing pin stop as a more beveled or rounded stop can increase the recoil while a more square stop will reduce it. Recoil spring weight can have an affect too but you would need to know what weight is in each gun from the factory.

My 97 recoils very soft, it out weighs my Sig 1911 by 5lbs, so it should ;D
