EAA .22 conversions on SAR pistols OK-- but no one mentions the mags

Didn't want to hijack a recent thread where several members talk about the conversions on their SAR pistols, but like the title says no one ever mentions how well the conversion magazines fit & function in their pistols. I've toyed with the idea of getting a conversion kit (if I can find one reasonable enough) and with tax refund season here I might invest in one. So how about it guys, school me on the pluses and minuses of a plinking conversion.    :D

The B6 Hawk (all steel) and the full size B6P (polymer); by default if the conversion slide fits on a B6P frame then it should also fit the B6P compact frame and the K2P frame as the slides of all three will interchange.

 I have run the .22lr conversion in my B6P.  Magazine work fine.  But a few notes:

- Slide will not lock back after last round.  This is more issue with spring tension, not a magazine issue.
-  Magazines do not drop freely.  You maybe able to sand them to get better results.

I really like 22lr conversion in this pistol.  Surprise how accurate and reliable it has been.

Has it shown any ammo preferences? I've owned 2 Walther P22s (still have one) and both of them loved CCI Mini-mags and, surprisingly, Aquila SSS Subsonics but if you tried to feed them anything else they balked.

The slide won't lock back on the Witness either unless you replace the little spring that comes with it, and then you have to change it back to get the 9mm to work right.  Someone posted a compromise on one thread that I failed to save on another sight, so I just count off 10 rounds when plinking. 
The mags work well with the Sar, and subsonic rounds don't do well as a rule.  I haven't run across anything else that doesn't work and I have tried many different kinds.

I have not run Winchester or Remington rimfire ammo, I just dont buy it.   With that been said, CCI mini's, CCI SV and CCI Blazers all have function 100% as well as American Eagle.  Federal bulk and Automatch have had a few failure to feed and fire issues, maybe 2 or 3 out of a 100 - 150.  I see similar results with same ammo ran in my Buckmark.  I shoot the .22lr conversion better!!!

Thanks for your input so far guys, I appreciate it  :)

Buying a conversion at this might be a pipe dream at this point though, looks like kits at a reasonable price are getting hard to come by.

Hey thanks, I never thought to look there! I'm just watching it for now,  with 6 days left who knows how high the price will go before then. Besides,  I'm going to a
gun show this weekend and I might get lucky. :)

This has been my experience as well, works great in my B6P.  I've also had no ammo issues other than subsonic.  CCI mini mags, CCI SV, Federal bulk, winchester m22, winchester bulk 333, all work fine.
