True Pistol Perfection
« on: December 09, 2015, 11:52:51 PM »
I have found my pinnacle pistol. after a few painful years without a CZ, I picked up a CZ Accu Shadow lite and CZ Custom compact L in the same day. The Accu Shadow came direct from Angus and the nice folks at the CZ custom shop. The Compact L was a local find on a Facebook gun group. My first CZ was a 75 Shadow so the Accu Lite more more of the same but even better. It has a better trigger, nicer grips, better sights, and of course the barrel bushing. It is everything that made me fall in love with CZ in the first place. While I love the gun, it is the compact L that I am infatuated with. There is just something about how it fits in my hand. I have been carrying it lately and even replaced my previous nightstand gun with it. It is a shame that the Compact L was a limited run gun. I will likely never sell it but if they were readily available, I would buy more.

What makes the deal even better is that it was never fired before I got it. It sat in the older gentleman's safe for two years without so much as a single range trip. Here she is in all her glory.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up paying for the Compact L?

I got a pretty good deal on it. I paid $750 for it locally. Given the fact that it had never been fired outside of factory testing and they are pretty rare, it certainly could have went for more than that IMO.

Standard locking mechanism, compact alloy frame, safety selector. I want one, though I don't know if I will ever get one.
snakeye, no worries, I don't need someone in a leotard. :)

That is pretty, and I'm going to display my ignorance; how is it different from a P-01 other than the manual safety?

Its no wonder it wasn't shot, I'd be too distracted looking at it to even think about touching it  ;)
75BD, P-01, Kadet 2 ... so far

The compact L is the same as a P-01 with a manual safety.  It has an aluminum lower, as opposed to the steel lower of the compact.   I have a P-02, which is the same as a P-01, except it has a manual safety and the omega trigger.

As I understand it, the Compact L is a CZ UB model that has the aluminum frame with manual safety. They were imported by CZ USA by request from the CZ Custom shop. All of the imported models were somewhat modified. Mine came from the factory Custom fitted with a tuned action comprised of a Shadow hammer. It also came from the factory with the Cocobolo half checkered grips. I believe there was something like 500 imported.

Wow that is awesome. Going to have to keep my eyes out for one, I'd love a P-01 but lacking a manual safety is the only thing that has kept me from picking one up so far.

You got a good deal.  I have a Compact L that I ordered from CZC.  It is my EDC gun.  I also use it to compete in IDPA SSP and CCP.  It is is one of my favorite CZs.

   Nice looking pistols, sir.
I'm not sure if all Compact L's were configured the same. I bought mine from CZ Custom, It came equipped w/ night sites, stainless guide rod. comp. hammer, tune, extended firing pin, rubber grips and a lighter mainspring. It's my favorite too, and will never be sold.

If I recall correctly there are 2 versions according to a conversation with Stuart. The CZC one and one built for CZ USA to distribute.
