Chrome CZ 70?
« on: January 20, 2016, 01:53:31 AM »
Ran across an ad for a chromed 70.  Claim it was an officer's weapon.

Anyone ever hear of such a thing?

In "Cold War Pistols of Czechoslovakia" by James D. Brown, there is an extensive chapter on the vz. 50-70. It indicates that a variety of finishes, including nickel and gold plated versions of the vz. 70 were specifically produced for the commercial market. There is no mention of chrome plated pistols for the military or government. Would be interesting see proof marks on this pistol.

If it was nickle plated, wouldn't it crack where they put the import stamp on it?

Turns out it wasn't chromed after all.  The bluing was just removed, probably with a wire wheel.

Get the seller to knock 1/2 off it because it's damaged and then Rust Blue it yourself.
