Mossad Magazine Comparisons
« on: January 26, 2016, 06:29:52 PM »
I recently bought a Mossad and it only came with one magazine. Never being a person to like only have one mag, I searched the forum and other sites to get a definite answer to what magazine to buy. What I found were a lot of answers but no real info on the specific differences with the mags. As such I bought a EAA witness and a CZ mag and have decided to post in pictures the various mags and their differences.....

This my Mossad and the EAA Witness mag I bought

The mag on the left is the mag that came with my Mossad, the middle one is the EAA Mag and the one on the right is the CZ 75 mag;

The first picture is of the followers ....all the followers are plastic.. the original mag follower does not seem to have a "cut out" for the hold slide hold open (but it does hold the slide locked back)

Also different shaped:

The magazine bodies are all made a bit different......

Note the Magazine floor plates:

The original mag has a flat metal plate..the EAA has a thicker plastic plate and the the CZ75 mag has an even thicker molded rubber over metal plate.

The EAA mag would seat and lock in the mag well and would hold open the slide.

The CZ75 mag would seat in the mag well but would not lock in all the time and would sometimes fall out of the mag well when the slide lock was disengaged.

Also the holes for locking in the mags are different:

The EAA mag locked in with no problem.

The CZ75 "hole" for the mag lock is a bit too small and needed to be opened up with a file to make it function and reliably.

The conclusion I reached was that the EAA Witness magazine 9mm 16 round...Part: EA9M SKU 101900 is the best replacement magazine for my Mossad.

The CZ is a bit better made but needed to have the locking hole filed to open it up and the base plate removed/replace with a flat metal one.

Note: I replaced all the EAA and CZ mag base plates with flat metal base plates which improved the fit and seating of the mags.

Hope you found these posts informative and my hope was that they increased the knowledge base for the Mossad.

The best mags I've found for my TZ's, Mossads, etc. is the Meg-Gar MG-GT21-16 which I believe  was actually made for the TZ pistols.

Besides that, Meg-Gar makes the finest magazines available-in my humble opinion!   ;D

I own more than a few name brand pistols that came from the factory with Mec-Gar mags.

My Mossad came with the Meg-Gar MG-GT21-16. The mag was brand new, unused from what I could tell. I bought two more and they all work great. My Mossad compact came with what appears to be the factory mag, no marks on it. I bought some CZ75 compact mags and they work fine, but they won't hold the slide open when empty, which is annoying.
