22 lr Conversion for Sar B6P
« on: December 18, 2015, 10:56:26 AM »
Morning all, I believe I've seen posts regarding the 22 conversions that work for the Sar B6P. Does anyone have first info on this and more importantly specifics on the correct conversion to get. i.e. manufacturer, model number, source, etc. Any help would be appreciated. I'd really like to pick one up if they are indeed excellent additions to the Sar B6P. TIA Geezer

I have a SAR K2P which is the plastic framed version with adjustable rear sights. Yours:

Mine:

I asked EAA if the Tanfoglio conversion would work on the SAR and was told no by the rep who answered the phone. I did not believe her and decided to try it anyway. Conversion EAA sells ; http://eaacorp.com/gun_accessories/index.php/parts/tanfoglio/witness/conversion-kit/22lr-conversion-kit.html

I've put a few hundred rounds through it. The only negative thing I have to say about it is the slide does not lock open on the last round. Since it is a rimfire, we want to avoid pulling the trigger on an empty chamber. It may be possible to modify the magazine so that it will lock open. I intend to investigate this at some point. In the meantime, it is important to keep count of the shots.
Although I once owned a couple, I don't really have a SIGnature.

Yes, the conversion kit for the small frame witness does work on the SAR b6P.  I plan on doing a video on this for my channel but haven't gotten to it yet.  The conversion kit in the below video, is the exact same one that I put in and shot in my B6P.  It is part number 109910.  It shot great in my B6P, very accurate, no jams.  No fitting required either.  As Mountainrider pointed out it does not lock the slide back on the last round, but this is the same as it does on the witness.  You can remedy this by replacing the spring that's included in the conversion kit (I think it's the slide stop spring, someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I've never messed with it, I just keep track of my shots.

I dedicated a EAA Witness to a 22lr conversion.  I had to shorten the slide stop spring to get it to lock the slide after the last round.  The gun is very accurate with the .22lr conversion.  FUN FUN.

Does anyone know if EAA Witness SLides, .40 and 9mm, are interchangable with Sar B6P?  I mean can I take .40 EAA Witness slide and put it on SAR B6P frame?

One word of caution.  The shorten slide stop spring will not function correctly with the 9mm slide.  I will lock open every shot.

According to this video, it looks like EAA Slides fit on SAR Recievers.

Most all Tanfoglio parts will interchange with SAR (Sarsilmaz) parts.
When Tamfoglio and Sarsilmaz were partners, Sarsilmaz made and marketed Tanfoglio based Pistols of varying design, but they did not change much of the basic parts.

The Witness with plastic handles will interchange parts with the B6P (which has a plastic handle).  Small frame steel Witness (pre 2005) sometimes yes, sometime no go for parts swap.

How cool would it be to have a double stack 22lr magazine?

Band saw off the base plate. Replace with a fabricated alloy plate pinned/riveted to the plastic housing. Probably need a new round follower/lifter too.

Might be a fun project for one of us that has skills, time and curiosity enough to make a run at this.

I would buy a few.

I agree it would be cool, but I'm afraid it's a little more complicated than just changing base plates and followers: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/01/jeremy-s/double-stack-magazine-rimmed-cartridges/

Interesting read. Thanks for the link. I still think it could be accomplished. Maybe easier to begin with a mec-gar 9mm CZ magazine and emulate the kel-tec pmr rimfire separator design. A new base plate with separator could be turned from billet...maybe?

Of course, reloading after 10 rounds does make extremely-hard-to-come-by 22LR rounds last longer.

BOOM!!! After waiting over two months I got notice from GrabAGun that they had the 22 conversion back in stock. I placed my order immediately. Can't wait to get it.
