Wasn't his premise that:
You choose a 9mm for the gun (wonder nines, capacity, DA/SA trigger, tricky neat stuff),
You choose a .45ACP for the cartridge (capability, stopping power, high five to the 1911)?
I don't recall much more than scoff from him on anything non-.45ACP, non-J.M. Browning, non-1911; back when I read Gun magazines in the 1980's.
