Thumb Safety on B Model 75's
« on: June 08, 2016, 04:07:17 AM »
To sorta go along with my previous post, I'm looking for some info on this.  I love the SA but I want to know from the gunsmithers on here....is there anyway to make the thumb safety a little bit stiffer?  On the 1911, you can get a new pin & spring or even stretch it out a little bit but is there any way to do it with a 75B?

Just wanting to get it to click on and off safe with a bit more 'authority'.

Thanks,
Richard

The B-SA has two Detent Plungers (each with their own Spring)
Guess you could try finding a heavier Spring or, (as you said) "stretch them out a bit"
You could also file the end of the Plunger and the notch in the Safety a bit sharper
That would give you a definite "click"
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Boutaswell,
I'm glad you asked this.  I just got an Israeli surplus B model and was wondering the exact same thing.  I was wondering if replacing the safety, safety detent plunger, and the safety detent plunger spring might help.

You may want to check out the CZ Extra Power Thumb Safety Spring.

Here is a review i did on it a while back. It may be just what you guys are looking for.

Thanks a lot, Tok36.  This might be just what the doctor ordered.

I installed the DS Perman extra power spring in both My B series guns and it worked out very well. Just enough to give the safety a more positive click in each direction.

What DenStinett Mentioned about tweaking the interface of the detent and the surface of the safety that receives it seams to be a viable option as well. Though i have not done this my self i have read of a few CZ owners improving the feel of their safety with this method.
