CZ VZ22 holster

 I have long believed the cz22 holster is the same as for the cz24. After all, nearly 20,000 cz22 were made for the Czech military and they would not have been issued without a holster. The illustration below is from Automag, and although the caption attributes this holster to the cz24, I believe it is the prototype for the cz22. The tag states vz22 and is dated 1923, which would lend credence to my theory. no they are not the same. I am actually lucky enough to own both. Close but not exactly the same

The vz 22 and 24 holsters are NOT the same. I have taken a few pictures to prove this. Unfortunately no one has explained how to upload photos. The main and just about only difference is size. The cz 22 is smaller in width. I have one of my cz 24's in my cz 22 holster and it clearly is too large to shut the flap or catch the strap on button. I got extremely lucky on mine. They are near impossible to get. I have never seen another come up for sale. I have a massive CZ collection and have been working with publishers of Czech books. A new one will hopefully be coming out shortly. It is based on the 50 and 70 and is super technical!!! James did a great job once again. If you dont have his last you need to get one. The last one was cold war czech pistols. I also have know your czech pistols for sale which is vital o anyone's collection if you go back to the begin like me. The big book on Czech weapons is also great although expensive if you can get someone to sell it. Also just to prove I know what I am talking about, I did the TV series "I own this old Gun". I restored the cz 52 which was featured in the tv show, nra museum and magazine. So no reason to make this story up. I have no plans on selling it, so not driving the price up. Feel free to ask anything else.

Hi Shane, 2bnag and guys --

Just FYI I am working on a new book on Czechoslovak and Czech pistols 1918-2016 (maybe 2018, heh, although my deadline is this summer). I assume that the photo you posted is from Cold War Pistols? I have most of the references including many in Czech (which I read) and a few in German (ditto).

I am not looking to compete with collector grade in making short-run doorstops, although they do inspire my goals for accuracy and quality. Instead, I hope to make a practical guide to historians and collectors that will be an updated and superior replacement for the out-of-print and crazy expensive Berger, and that will never go out of print because it will be available as an e-book.

Given success of the pistol book, rifle and MG volumes will follow.

I'm the author of the weaponsman.com blog. Like a lot of you guys, I'm a collector and history buff looking to share my knowledge. (Although only a small fraction of my guns are Czech). The photo of the holster is from Automag. It was sent to me by a friend who knew I was interested in the origin of the CZ22 holster.
