Stripped screw help!
« on: March 24, 2016, 08:06:57 PM »
So I'm trying to replace the trigger shoes with HBI flat face one and I seem to have stripped the screw in the trigger guard...... Any help trying to get it out now?!

- Are you using a metric bit? A 1/8 should fit a bit tighter than a 3mm. Use a fresh, quality hardened bit, not some one-hung-lo brand.

- Sometimes a torx offers a little more bite in a boogered up hex.

- Long nose vise grips from the side.

- Use a file to cut a slot in the top of the bolt head. A 1/4" Hollow ground Flat head bit with a wrench grabbing from the side. Lookup Chapman Wrench to get a better idea of the setup.

- I would avoid drilling until you are out of options. If you do drill, use a lefthand drill bit.

^ this will work... here is the tool that Jlui83 is talking about in case anyone else needs future reference: http://www.irwin.com/tools/locking-tools/the-original-long-nose-locking-pliers-with-wire-cutter .

Also, Juli83 if you did not order more hardware with your trigger, please just let us know and we can send you another trigger pack screw. It is a M4 x 0.7 thread if you want to look for one locally as well. The length on the stock screw is 10mm, but you can go 12mm-ish and still be alright, there is some working clearance above the screw in the S1 trigger pack.

I found a couple of screws that will work at Lowes.... They have the flat version or a cap version... Also the vice  grip worked like a charm. Thanks!

Oh and I'm digging the look and function of the flat faced trigger! Thanks!
