Custom Cases for Scorpion
« on: August 29, 2016, 07:55:52 PM »
Hi all!

Somewhere in a thread i cannot find anymore, lots of folks were asking about cases for their Scorps.

Since there is really no one doing pre-cut cases, and i personally hate pic-a-square foam (as it looks really bad), went on a quest to see if the folks who do my custom photography cases can do firearm cases as well.

DANGER - what follows is a happy post about something cool, not an endorsement of a company. Nor do i have any affiliation with this company, other than they have done camera cases for me in the past. (Yes, i KNOW it's my first post and this is a common trick for people shilling for companies. This is not that.)

Does this look like something you guys would be interested in? (this is for my carbine, but they've got the ability to trace a photo, so you can do whatever you need wiht the pistol or SBR as well)

If the mod-types approve, i'll post details.

Since I've been blessed by Admin, here's the place:

http://www.mycasebuilder.com/

Took me all of 15 minutes to design a custom case using the tracing tool and add the pre-cut for the 1911.
You can get case+foam, or just foam if you already have a case.

I have a feeling i'm going to be spending LOTS of money wiht these guys. Just imagine, a custom foam set  for all your various load-outs. (do NOT show this to your wife for her sewing gear.)

Will post pics when the case arrives.

Well, the case arrived today!

It's exactly what i was looking for. SKB's new Pelican competitor is outstanding. Less that $200, as well.

the laser-cut foam is a perfect, if somewhat snug fit. only two minor issues, the 3-slot rail on the bottom of the handguard and the extended mag release lever aren't on the cut i use, but 5 minutes wiht an Xacto knife and all is well.

Here's a shot. Since the image posting function seems to hate both DropBox and Google Photos, just a link.

Nice case!

Question...what offset sights are you using on your scorp?

I'm using the Troy HK-style 45-degree sights.
Super happy with them.

Sights in the picture don't seem to match the sights on Troy's site...

(ETA: are these it... http://www.larue.com/dd-rapid-transition-sight-set-surefire ) ?

Either way...thanks for the info. Gonna use some google-fu and see what I can come up with.

The idea always seems neat. Having done the case thing, I'm now a bag guy and happier. It's much easier to sling a small backpack over a shoulder filled with 10+ magazines, a large Plate-Design speed loader and folding stock SBR than to carry an over sized case with all that excess foam area inside. Especially when bringing multiple guns to the range. But I do have small Pelican cases with pick n pluck foam for my fancy pistols.

This is what I use.

This is half the cost and what is given to law enforcement for every Scorpion ordered.

that CZ case would be awesome if it didn't have CZ logos all over it.

The case isn't supposed to be covert, so i'm not worried about being "outed" if someone sees it.
I may or may not keep my little Scorpion in a tennis racquet case in the truck.
I love 5.11's gear, but anything wiht Molle rack on it is a little too obvious for my taste.
