New P07 initial impressions
« on: March 27, 2016, 08:46:18 PM »
As mentioned in the 07 mag thread, I picked up my P07 a week ago. I haven't had time to shoot it yet, but I have cleaned and re-lubed it. Unlike my 97B, and as I'm sure you know, CZ's do not com in plastic bags soaked in oil anymore. There was very little lubrication any where on it. I did a bit of dry firing today and was surprised at how heavy the DA pull is. My CZ75 DA must be only a third of that. ( It is a 1985 pre-B and all the parts love each other) The SA is very good. Not as light as my 75 by any means, but very good. I have had no special work done on the 75. It has a new CZ barrel and has been ceracoated, bone stock otherwise. Unlike my XDM .45 (great trigger) the 07 balances great in my hand. It came with the small back trap installed and now wears the medium. It has the lanyard ring and came with the +2 base pads. I thought that was neat. I would like more of a shelf on the decocker lever, left side only, but figure I will get used to it. With my trigger finger on the pad above the trigger, thumbing the left decocker down makes me move my trigger finger out from the gun so the right decocker can also move. I have to admit I like the decocker. Very few of my pistols have them. I'm looking forward to shooting it this week. I expect it to be a fun time.

I own both a P-07 and an -09, and I've pulled the trigger on a few of each that were not mine, and the one thing that holds consistent for all stock triggers on these pistols is that the P-09 triggers always feel smoother and somewhat lighter. I don't really understand why because both pistols share the same fire control mechanisms and mainsprings and I assume the internals get the same level of attention at the factory.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a bleep

I'm in the market for another CZ pistol so I stopped by CZ Custom today to look at the P-07. I found the trigger in DA to be very tight and very hard to pull. SA wasn't to bad but could also be better. Over all I liked the gun.  It felt great in my hand.  The ergonomics are awesome.  I'm just not sure about the trigger. I also wanted to see the new P-01 convertible but they haven't had one in the shop yet. I'm in no hurry so I think I'll wait until the P-01 is available so I can compare the two pistols.
