Rear sight adjustment questions
« on: June 05, 2016, 06:38:01 PM »
I took my new UG P-07 to the range today and came home with 2 questions.

First, what size Allen wrench fits the screw in the rear sight? The small one that came with the gun fits the one in the front sight but the rear requires a larger size.

Also, the rear sight needs to be drifted as the gun shoots 2-3" left at 10 yards. Having never adjusted one before, what amount of movement should I be doing to correct that? Is there a formula? ;)

Initial POI aside, I really like this gun!

I'm not questioning your abilities but being a new to you gun I would seriously think about spending some more trigger time with the gun before condemning the sight alignment. 2-3 in. left at 10 yds is quite a bit and usually that amount ends up being the shooter more often than the gun. Even after many years I can catch myself pushing left if I don't pay close attention.

I get your point... but usually I do not have that issue with any of the other guns I shoot. Fliers now and then, of course, but this gun grouped left consistently.  I will give it some more range time, though... Just to be sure.

Any idea about the Allen wrench size?

I'm pretty sure mine's 1/16".

Same advice here on the 'shoot it some more' front.  I had the same problem and in the past few months, had to drift my rear sight back on more than one gun.  I would shoot consistently left with my P-07 and my P-09.  After I became more proficient, they were shooting too far right.

I've dry fired every day since with a laserlyte training cartridge and, yes, I was definitely pulling left. :-/

Note to self: work on hand strength!

I plan to install some CGW goodness to tame the heavy stock DA pull and I'm sure that will help. I guess it will take me some time to get used to DA again after a year shooting a striker fired pistol exclusively.

Oh, and thanks for the tip on the Allen wrench size ... I want to make sure to have one on hand even if I don't need it right now.
