Tristar Canik P-100
« on: June 25, 2017, 07:32:13 PM »
Here is my initial impression of the Tristar Canik that P-100 I picked up a few days ago.

Paid just over $400.00 for it. I ordered it from Bud's as they where the only place I could find that had the P-100 in stock.

The finish is on the P-100 is very nice. I beleive it's finished in Cerakote.

Out of the box, everything is crisp, tight, and feels very well made

The machining on the inside of the slide is also good. No random machine marks whatsoever.

The recoil spring is one piece, I had read in a few other reviews that the Canik's used a duel recoil spring, so there have been a few (no 55 after the Canik on the later pistols) running changes to these pistols

Sights are basic 3 dot set up. If these run true to form, they'all shoot about 3 inches low at 7 yards. That's ok, as I planned on adding fiber optic sights to it in the near future anyways

The trigger isn't bad, but the DA pull is VERY heavy, I'm guess 18lbs!? The SA pull is nice. I'd say the SA pull is about 5 pounds with a little take up before it hits the wall and then a nice crisp snap. There is a bit of over travel, but the reset is short with an aubible *click*.

The trigger on the CM9 I picked up last week is much nicer and I've already decided to order the 3 piece spring kit from Cajun Gun Works as well as their floating hardened trigger and fireing pin pins to replace the factory roll pins.

I ordered 2000 rounds of 115g brass cased FMJ range ammo, 500 rounds 124g HPs, to shoot with some random 115g factory ammo I have sitting around as well as some 147g HPs and some assorted steel case 115g Tula.

I want to see what it does and doesn't like to eat.

Now if I can just clear some time on my schedule to get to the range! 😡

I love mine. It shoots point of aim out of the box. Search my post history. I posted pics of targets and my preferred holster.
