New Kadet Kit Impressions
« on: November 14, 2002, 02:44:16 PM »
I can't call it a review because I haven't the patience to measure each group I shot. Anyway, I fit the kit to my 75B in about 15 minutes using an old file. I think I grounded off a bit too much because it is very easy to slide the kit onto the frame.
At the 50 yard outdoor range, I used my current favorite ammo--Federal bulk pack($11 per 600 at Walmart). It is much cleaner than the Remington bulk packs.
Reliability-The first magazine had a couple of failures to feed, the rounds didn't even go onto the ramp. The second round failed to eject, and there were 4 failure to fire(pulling the trigger again solved the FTF thing). However, after several magazines, the gun has become 100% reliable. I have to confess that I didn't really clean the kit thoroughly aside from an external wipedown.
Accuracy-At 25 yards, from a supported position, I grouped the 5 shots into 1.5" groups. Unsupported, 4" groups are the norm. Being ambitious, I moved the target to 50 yards. The shots scattered all over the target using an unsupported stance. Maybe I need to use some match quality ammo?? I could get recognizable groups with my 75B and HK USP 40. So my marksmanship isn't the problem here.
Ergonomics-very natural feeling grip shape, duh, just like my CZ 75B 9mm. But single-handed firing tires my arm easily-it is very front-heavy. I think the Kadet pistol weighs more than the 9mm pistol. Anyone weighed them side by side?
Final impression-I need to stock up on 22LR ammo. I used up 600 rounds during this first session with my Kadet.:D
Finally, I should report that I ordered my kit from J&G Sales and it arrived withing a week with the extra magazine I ordered. So I will recommend them over the CZ Connection shop(where I spent over 40 days waiting for my 75B).

Thanks for your impressions.

My groups are better with 9mm than the kadet. I've only shot the cheap .22 ammo so maybe I should try some higher grade ammo and see if it makes a difference.

First of all I believe the CZs are shipped with lots of grease in the gun.  You probably fouled up your barrel pretty good and accuracy probably went down hill after that but the barrel should clean out.  Also, I have found the Fed bulk ammo to be better than the Remington but still not as reliable as the boxed ammo.  CCI blazer is pretty darn reliable for the price.  You might also give some Aguila SE a try if you can find it.  It's pretty cheap for boxed ammo and very good stuff.  I got one lot of Aguila that would consistently print 5/8" groups at 50 yards from a Winchester 69.  The cats meow of rimfire for most applications is the CCI mini mag.  If your gun doesn't function with that, it's the gun not the ammo. mapdude.

My kit also fits a little loose at the lug...but very tight on the front frame rails. I wouldn't worry about it.

My kit...on top of my 75B SA...is very accurate. I have run several thousand rounds thru mine with different brands of ammo and the kit has been flawless.

I've had my CZ75 since 96 and purchased the Kadet kit earlier this year.  After following mapdupes instructions, it has become a reliable shooter with all LR ammo.  After becoming proficient at consistently hitting a 2 inch target at 25 yards, I've taken the Kadet into the squirrel woods and have taken a fair number of squirrels with it.  Using Wolf match target ammo and using a rest, the Kadet will put the 40gr solid in the animals head with satisfying regularity.
The Kadet is accurate with most ammo and is a reliable hunting handgun.
