Mag base plate replacement

Is there a trick to replaceing the mag base plate?   I have everything replaced but can't get the tab back in the whole on the baseplate.

Take the mag by the top, like a riding crop,  and slap/flick the base of the mag into your palm towards the direction the baseplate need to move. The tab will click into place.

I tried that it starts to more but only a little then won't move anymore.  I tried pushing it down with a punch but doesn't seem to work.  I have the two factory mags with the same issue.  Any other thoughts or ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

Instead of slapping the mag against your hand try a 2 X 4.  Some of them are very stubborn.

Thanks for your help guys I figured it out.  I had the mag base plate on backwards.

Note to self; mag base plate can go on backwards and ruin a lovely day.
