Wifes Bersa Thunder 380

Im not sure what the deal was, but with 100rds of 115gr FMJ Aguila ammo, I had 4-5 FTE/stove pipes.  The gun was cleaned and lubed prior to hitting the gun range.  My wife had a very hard time racking this pistol as well.  I owned a Bersa Thunder .380 years ago and it performed flawlessly, that is why I got the gun for her.  I ended up selling it a week later since her not being able to rack the pistol was a deal breaker.  The stove pipes didnt help.  Anyhow, I bought her a Ruger LCP9s as a replacement.  She is able to rack this gun easily.  I think its because the spring is softer, and she has more area to grab onto with the larger slide serrations.  The Bersas slide is shorter and has small serrations with the safety being in the way on the left side.  We will hit the gun range this weekend and I will give a report on the Ruger .

The Bersa is the same basic blow back operated design as the Walther PPK/PPK/s. The recoil springs are much stronger in that design that the locked breach design of the Ruger. Hence the easier to rack slide.
