My first CZ: UG P07 threaded 9mm
« on: December 17, 2016, 03:59:23 PM »
Hey everyone!

Just picked up my first P07 after shooting one with a Surefure Ryder can and absolutely loved the feel. Now I own one and have outfitted it with a TLR1 HL FDE and placed an order for a custom kydex IWB and CGW stainless guide rod and #18 recoil spring.

Aside from the polishing of internals and the two items I have from CGW coming, are there any suggestions more defensive/carry mods?

I'm taking it out shooting tomorrow to get the gun broken in. Also trying to figure how to upload photos...

I can't recommend the CGW ProGrade package parts enough...

I would highly suggest upgrading the firing pin and retaining pin if you dry fire much. The TRS is also a good upgrade - it is typically considered more reliable than the stock part. The hammer and heavier sear spring really tighten up the SA while keeping it good for carry, and the remaining upgrades help to smooth out and lighten the DA.

Once I upgraded one of mine, they all had to have it ;)

Enjoy the UG P-09!

What is the TRS?

Thanks for the response!

All good thank you! I'll see if CGW can add to the order. Do you use any aftermarket grips? I like traction grips but also found the CZ custom grip tape. Seems to be like sandpaper so not sure if I'd like that.

RP-TRS Reduced Power Trigger Return Spring, 92000 P-07/ P-09 Hammer, and 51820 Sear Spring Set?

I have not used anything yet. I am toying with having the grip stippled... I've used Talin grips on other guns in the past and they worked well - I just wanted something more aggressive.

RP-TRS Reduced Power Trigger Return Spring, 92000 P-07/ P-09 Hammer, and 51820 Sear Spring Set?

Yep...

My personal priorities were:

1. firing pin and retaining pin (I dry fire a lot)
2. reduced power TRS and a spare slide stop (both have been known failure points as round counts increase)
3. roller, lifter and lighter hammer spring and firing pin block spring (to tame and smooth the somewhat rough and heavy stock DA pull)
4. hammer and heavier sear spring (before this everything was good but the hammer took the creep and most of the overtravel out of the SA... reset was shortened too)
5. stainless steel recoil rod and lighter recoil spring (these guns are oversprung and the spring can be lightened up a fair bit depending on what ammo you shoot)

This could be done in stages - having been down this road before I knew I'd end up doing it all so I planned for that from the start ;-)

Oh, also, since my P-07s are my carry/training guns I elected not to polish anything, preferring to let the parts wear in naturally to avoid introducing any problems from overdoing it.

Be sure to check out Joe L's YouTube vids for a greatbreakdown of the steps involved... they were really helpful the first time or two through!
