CZ 75 Compact Conceal Carry Experience
« on: October 30, 2016, 10:11:06 AM »
Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum and reading through other posts , I feel I am in the right place.

Couple Months back I bought my first Gun ,CZ SP-01 Tactical and Loved it , Enjoying my weekly Rang time. Joy to shoot.
Now I am looking  Conceal Carry ,I am 5.6 & 200 pounds  :-[ and can not carry SP-01 as it is too big to conceal. Started looking at CZ Rami BD . It is impossible to gets hands on one , CZ-USA wrote back to me that they have huge backlog and may come out of it by end of spring 2017. :'(

Looked at Single stack Glock 43 , XDS , Shield , H &K , Sig 938. They are good to conceal but some how not comfortable to shoot and difficult to control subsequent shoots

Currently considering PCR and looking for experts advice and experience carrying it .
How frequently do you carry ? How do you fee about it's weight when you carry for long period ? ability to conceal ( summer / winter ) ? IWD holster you use ?
Best position to carry ? Driving for long period with PCR ? Any other information that will help me make the decision.
Pictures of carrying  PCR would be nice too. Not able to find any video of PCR carry , If you have seen please share.

I've pretty much gravitated to OWB whenever possible.  A shirt draped over even a full size gun works when used in conjunction with a sturdy belt.  When tucked in shirt is requred, I use a Nano in the front pocket or a belly band holster under cross draw arm pit.  This method works nicely when driving and conceils even full size guns nicely with phone, pens, etc in shirt pocket further assisting concealed carry.  I alsays wear an undershirt/tanktop under my occaisional bellyband carry.  Worn too tight, you'll sweat.  Worn too loose, it may slip down.

Welcome , I'm fairly new as well. I am no expert, but I do carry everyday. I have a 75c, appendix carry, iwb in a Kydex holster, cocked w/ the safety on. I sometimes forget I'm carrying it., even in shirt and shorts. Get a good belt and a good holster. I wear a belly band every now and then, if I'm wearing sweats or something w/out a belt. But you'll probably have to do what every one does and buy 3-4 different holsters till you find the one that works for you, lol. The P01, P07 are great options as well. I feel the Ramis are a bit small tho., but that's me, I'm 6'2 and 15 lbs heavier. Check your local laws about the driving part, states vary. In Pa it's pretty easy, but cross into nj, ny, va it's a whole new set of rules. I'm sure you checked youtube, tons of videos on there about the PCRs. Enjoy your search :)

I have been carrying a P01 all summer. OWB with a 2x t shirt or a button up shirt draped over at 4 oclock. I have IWB appendix carried it, but don't really have appropriate holster. Only change (other than cgw springs and firing pin), is grenade grips. The rubber ones, although plenty comfortable, tended to stick to the shirt. I think a PCR would serve you well. I carry everywhere except bed and shower.

The downside of most CZ75 variants and clones is that they're pretty wide for concealed carry.  The PCR is even a bit wider because it has an aluminum frame.  If you don't mind the width, you have a couple of options.  Do you want a decocker model that has a first shot double action trigger pull?  Or do you want a model with a manual safety like your SP-01 that can be carried cocked & locked and has the same single action trigger pull from the first to the last shot?  If you want the decocker model, then the PCR is your pistol.  If you want a manual safety model, then I'd suggest a Canik C100 Compact.  It's a clone of the CZ that's every bit as good in quality, it's aluminum frame is narrower than the CZ's aluminum frame and it has a manual safety setup just like your SP-01.  If you want to stick with a CZ manual safety model, then you'll have to get the heavier steel frame model because CZ doesn't offer an aluminum framed model with a manual safety.

Thank you All for sharing your experience and thoughts.

I looked at the PCR in the local shop yesterday. I think it is big for me to CC using IWB.
Looks like If I have to CC CZ gun , I  need to wait for CZ RAMI 2075.  :(

They suggested to look at Walther PPS M2 . Which I am going to rent this weekend.

I have been carrying a PCR for over a year.  I use a kangaroo shoulder holster called the Air Marshal.    I don't feel the weight of the PCR at all.  It is easy to get to while in the car behind the wheel, for a right hander.  I have even used it to carry my full size 75 BD Police and my Sig M11 A1.    I also have the Geco Miami Vice shoulder holster that works very well.  However, I like the Air Marshal the best.

I mostly switch back and forth between the RAMI and the PPS M2 IWB. I carry at 4 o'clock under a shirt.
I do some times carry the PCR IWB and the P-01 OWB.

If you're considering a PPS (which I'd love to shoot, but have not yet), you might also consider a S&W Shield.  It certainly doesn't have the romance of a CZ, but it gets the job done.  It's light and easy to carry IWB, so I carry mine more than any other pistol.

and if grips are too wide/issue... you can always put on thin grip! wow, what a difference.   I made my own.. .015" above frame per side.. REALLY makes a super thin carry and great fit for my hand!

just a thought!

I second a look at the Canik 100. I have many CZs but typically carry my Canik. Like the safety vs decocker and CZ doesn't offer an alloy compact.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

The CZ 75 PCR has an alloy frame.
Right, but that has a decocker instead of a manual safety (which means double action first shot) and the aluminum frame is wider than the Canik aluminum frame.
