CZ 920 which choke for clay shooting
« on: November 15, 2016, 11:21:34 AM »
My girlfriend bought a CZ 920 for shooting clays.  Which choke should I use to make it the easiest for her to hit the clays?  I can hit them 9 out of 10 times and it discourages her when she can only hit 1 out of 10.  Thank you

Your best choke to use would be the Modified choke, its the easiest for most yardages. to help her out with her shooting buy a couple of boxes of the Winchester AA tracker loads. the wads have shot in them and they will follow the pattern when she shoots, stand behind her and you will be able to tell by the wad where her shots are going. just remember, " Practice makes perfect "

What sort of clays are you shooting?  Skeet, trap, sporting clays, or something else?  If the clays are relatively close then either a skeet choke or improved cylinder would be the right choice.  If she isn't using proper fundamentals (eyes on the target and following through) then the choke selection isn't going to matter that much.

If the clays are close then an open choke (skeet or improved cylinder) and #9 shot is the ticket.

Right now we are focused on just shooting one skeet at a time so there is no transitioning between targets. She has the basic fundamentals down but its the accuracy thing she is struggling with so I figured maybe a better choke selection would help her out.  I honestly can't remember what choke is in there currently but I will look later this evening and see. Thanks for the input guys.
