SAR Arms ST9 questions
« on: November 01, 2016, 02:41:08 AM »
Hello, and good day. I am trying to find out more information about the SAR Arms ST9 pistol, as I'm trying to decide on a good truck gun for purchase, but it seems it doesn't have nearly as much coverage as its older CZ derivatives, and I don't know if it would be a good buy over the more well-known TP9SF.

Things I would like to know:

Handling characteristics (One of the major draws, since it's fully ambi, and i'm left-handed)
Magazines (Which have me intrigued being polymer. Do they hold up well? Are extras available, and if so, reasonably priced?)
Reliability (feeding, extracting, ammo types, how well it holds up, torture tests would be good to know as well, but optional.)
Accessories (Chiefly holsters. I tend to be of the opinion that learning how to use guns stock is more important than fiddling with it.)
Quirks

Any information that you guys have, for those who own one would be most helpful, and thanks in advance  :)

Not much info out there on the SAR ST9 and I have never seen them for sale..............anywhere.

Here's a Video that EAA released a few months ago

https://youtu.be/A3oMRGUpAa0

My view is that I would prefer the Canik TP9SF, due to the TP9SF's push button Magazine Release over the ST9's H&K and Walther style lever's.
Been very very happy with my Canik TP9V1!!!  :)

Buds has em on sale for a bit more than a Canik at the moment:
One in 9mm: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_231/products_id/719009409/EAA+SARARMS+9MM+BL+16

And one in 45: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_231/products_id/719009410/EAA+SARGUN+45ACP+BL+13

From what i've found out, the way these guns are designed, it has a universal frame, meaning that same frame can use the 9mm, 45 ACP, and (Turkey only at the mo') 40 S&W. Besides the universal frame, ambi controls, and clear mags, its something I haven't seen yet, and kinda want to test it out. Of course, with it being planned as a truck gun, not sure if toying around with a rather untested (at least here in the US) firearm is a good idea. I was hoping someone who owned one might be able to pass along some more information on the matter.

Of course, now that they had to go and announce the new TP9SF Elite, I might just put this one off until later, because the TP9SF Elite fixes the one problem I had with the original Canik series (Ambi controls).

I have a 9mm Sargun and the Zenith Girsan MC28 SAC coming this week , we will evaluate {shoot the crap out of both} post some pics and let you know what we think about them. Should have both by this Friday. Brian / EFR.  I have to keep an open mind because I really don't care for striker fired pistols.  I do own a couple ,but they are not ever my daily choice for carry.
