Swapping stocks on 527 varmints
« on: December 04, 2016, 06:36:56 AM »
Well I can't believe I'm doing it but I'm trading in my 527 varmint in 17 rem.  I never shoot it and it is just a safe Queen so it needs to go to help with another purchase,

Anyhow I have 2 CZ 527 varmints one is a .204 the other is the .17rem. I bought the 17 just because of the wood  it is gorgeous.  Now that I want to get rid of it I want to swap out the wood so I can keep the nice stock.  The 204 has a little longer barrel and the 17 has a slightly shorter stock. (sorry can't get measurements right now) When i switched them the 17 fells tighter around the barrel than it was.  Did I just not get it seated right or is there a difference?

What do I need to torqu the screws to?

According to CZ the barrels, and stocks, should be the same. Obviously production tolerances have crept in.

I'd measure the barrels for diameter, and free float the barrel accordingly.

25in/lbs is about all a non pillared wood stock will take without crushing.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.
