Reaching for the P-07 mag release
« on: December 17, 2016, 09:24:24 AM »
I love grip on the P-07 and the way it shoots (I use the small backstrap). What I find difficult is the reach to the mag release, as I have to adjust my grip a bit to reliably use the mag release button (I'm right-handed). CGW has an 'extended mag release' for the P-07??question is, has anyone here with a similar issue tried the extended release, and did it help solve the 'reach' issue to the mag release?
Thanks!

I had a similar problem as my thumb was not long enough to reach the release without twisting the gun. I swapped sides on the mag release and activate it now with my middle finger while keeping my trigger finger along the frame. I think my mag changes have improved as the gun stays pointed and doesn't twist any more. Just a thought.

Unorthodox, but I have always used the middle finger of my shooting hand to push the mag release by simply lifting my fingertip up to hit the button. I have never used my thumb, as that would cause me to have to shift the pistol in my hand (Right hand dominant).

Thanks for the tips I went through the same problem I put in the extended release and the mag would drop when I fired the gun .I have large hands and use the large back strap still the trigger is far to the back for my long fingers.a little heat from a torch and trigger placement is much better.

I have small hands so shifting my grip slightly is natural after 20+ years of doing it. You get used to it. Doesn't slow me down any.

Thanks as well for the tips. I could get used to shifting my grip, I guess?.may also try switching the release to the other side. Perhaps also the mag release spring will give a little as it's used, though that might also have unintended consequences. I can reach the release fairly easily, but have to shift my hand to get enough pressure to depress it. It'll work out over time one way or another. OTOH, if the CZs would just have the paddle-type mag release that my Walthers do, problem solved :-)

I have smallish hands and always have to twist teh gun some to get purchase on the mag release. With my XD's which have ambi mag release  I had acquired the habit of pushing in on the right with my middle finger. Flipping the mag release on the CZ might be a great CHEAP fix.
