P07 Trigger pinch
« on: December 28, 2016, 07:36:42 PM »
I recently joined the P07 club after loving my 85b but wanting something lighter.

Love the gun, how it shoots, and how it fits my hand.

I have noticed in dry fire that when I pull the trigger in both DA and SA that my trigger finger gets pinched between the back of the trigger and the front of the frame inside of the trigger guard.

What is the remedy for this? Is it shooter error or just how the gun fits my hands?

Are you just using the pad of your trigger finger?

Is it the part of your finger toward the tip or toward your palm?

I've never had this happen on any of my handguns or any gun for that matter.

Can you post a picture of it?

When I get home from work this morning I'll try to get a picture to show you what I mean.

The pinched area is just behind the first crease of my trigger finger. The trigger reaches slightly past the first crease in my finger. That is what I pull with. I can't get my finger any further on the trigger due to my hand size.

In the photographs, the shooter is using the first knuckle joint to pull the trigger, allowing the meat of the second finger segment to be pinched behind the trigger shoe.  Try pulling the trigger with the pad of your finger -- that will keep your first knuckle joint, and the meat of your second finger segment, out of the trigger area.

Sadly I never new this was wrong. I just pulled the trigger that way because I had more leverage.

Yeah, man. You're putting too much of your finger on that trigger. Use the pad and your problem should disappear.

No that you will have your finger on the trigger properly, you will prob notices some better accuracy at the range - WIN WIN.

Thank you for the picture and video OP.

For reference, Section #3 of this diagram illustrates how finger placement on the trigger can effect accuracy. Now i assume that the P-07 is in stock configuration. The stock DA of the P series can be quite heavy, this can lead to want of more leverage and bad finger positioning. There are a few easy options for reducing DA trigger pull weight/stacking in the P series. Adjusting the trigger bar spring and reducing the hammer spring weight are two of these options.
