From my understanding it is still legal for SSP in IDPA.  I only shoot at the club level so I haven't ever had anyone question my gun.  If I remember the rules (and they have changed since I last looked), it can't be an external modification.  Since you can't really tell that the hammer has been milled to work on a decocker it fulfills the external modification rule and it's a OEM CZ part (other requirement).

I can't comment on USPSA rules.

It's USPSA legal.
The 11 1/2# spring will run if you have the extended Firing Pin and the lighter FP spring.  Easy to change.

I like the use of the non popular carbon fiber grip panels. Which are these? I think I've seen them before. There's red, blue, also yellow Kevlar available as well but I don't think anyone has done a build with them on display at any point recently.

I got mine here:  http://www.designergrips.com/  They have subsequently changed hands since I received my grip panels.  I can't comment as to the current quality but assume it is the same.

I actually won these as part of a previous forum giveaway!  I feel like I should stop entering these for a while since I keep winning stuff .

The main reason I went for these was because of weight.  Back when I got these IDPA had a different weight limit for production guns and the SP01 was just too heavy to qualify.  These were my attempt to make weight.  They are holding up great and are still grippy (the grip tape is actually molded into the panel).

What stones did you use for polishing? I have been trying to decide on a set but there are so many options. I know it is an old thread, but it is a good one.

A co-worker gave me the stones I'm using.  One is like a knife edge and allows you to work in tight corners.  The others are just varying grit triangular fragments of full stones about 1 to 2 inches in length.  Don't need much for gunsmithing.

Sand paper and a flat surface also works.  You just can't get into inner corners.
