Issue With CZ50 grips on my CZ70
« on: April 15, 2016, 04:35:07 PM »
So after seeing everyone and his uncle say that you can put CZ50 grips on a CZ70 I decided to replace mine with a beautiful set of un-issued CZ50 grips I found online. Now, am I crazy or has everyone neglected to mention that you cannot use the decocker on the CZ-70 if you install CZ50 grips? I haven't found a single source online mentioning this fact. Have I overlooked something?

I'll go ahead and answer my own question and to provide a reference for future CZ-70 owners:

No, CZ-50 grips are not completely interchangeable on the CZ-70 without minor modification if you want the decocker to work. You will have to grind down on the grip just under the safety/decocking lever ever so slightly to give it enough room to properly function. The grips are ultimately, in my opinion, much more comfortable and better looking than the stock CZ-70s, but I just wanted to let everyone know who thinks this is a simple swap job.

Some sanding will get the 50's grips to work with the safety. The Bakelite is easy to work with and you can polish the ground/sanded areas smooth and shiny again. Worked on my 70.
