I had two Barskas. They are serviceable scopes. One actually stopped working.  If I remember I spent the low side of $100.  But, these were their Varmint scopes.  The BSA I mentioned was about the same price price. The Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 3-9x40 BDC that mounts my Ruger was $109.

I do understand what you say. I think the Barska was a good solution. The 24x and adjustable objective makes it great for kids.  If your shooting in the sunny outside or in a well lighted range, it's great.

The only real problems where poor field of view and bad light transmissions.  They were only problems because I hung just after dawn in heavy woods.  I don't think that is a lemon issue. I just think the scope wasn't suited for me.

I have found that SK Standard Plus and Geco Semi-Auto (not Geco Rifle) shoot best in my 455 Varmint in a Boyd's thumbhole stock. The Geco Rifle shoots OK but Semi-Auto is better.  I did have occasional fliers with some ammo but this works best for me.  For me Federal Target is low quality bulk ammo and high velocity as well.  The SK and Geco are std. velocity.  Better results for accuracy.  I recently bedded and pillared the rifle as well and that has improved accuracy.  All this work and my CZ 452 American that is factory stock shoots better.  Go figure.

Glad you found something that works for you. Here's what my win 52 does with sk match.

Unser 1/2inch, a little more than 3/8 inch. 5 rounds off a front rest at 50 yards.
