Chronology of VZ/CZ firearms
« on: February 15, 2017, 12:06:26 PM »
Just out of curiosity I've been trying to do research on the chronology and development of Czech firearms.  I have not seen very many resources on this subject and thought you guys might have some links or ideas of where to look.

I'm interested to see things like what preceded the vz24, if the vz52 was the replacement for the 24, reasons for why when the Czechs went from the 58 to the Bren they decided to change calibers from the 7.62x39 to the 5.56.

I got interested in this stuff after learning that the cz52 (pistol) and vz52 (rifle) were originally chambered in 9mm and 7.62x45 respectively and then were pressured into adopting the 7.62 tokarev and 7.62x39 Russian cartridges.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks guys!

I have a couple of books that provide a ton of information. Czech Firearms and Ammunition and Cold War Pistols of Czechoslovakia.

know you Czecholslovakian pistols and czech cold war pistols. I have the first for sale on GB which is the rarest. The other is still in print and can be found on ebay or amazon. I also know the author if you cant find it.
There are 5 total books on the subject. You are going to be amazed how much you missed! :)

Good luck, Shane
