Does anyone make magazines for .45 caliber Witness Stock pistols with a higher capacity than 10 rounds?

I recently played around with a BUL-5 that had a 14-round mag, and I liked the extra capacity.

I've never seen more than 10 in a flush-fit mag for the .45 guns made by EAA or CZ.  (The tube is virtually full.)  It would arguably take an extended base or a larger diameter grip.

Welcome to the forum.  I'll be picking up my new Springfield XD in .45 ACP either tomorrow or Tuesday.  I'll see how close the 13 round magazine fits in my .45 Witnesses and let you know.

I picked up my new Springfield XD in .45 acp today and the magazine does hold 13 rounds.  Both the Witness and XD magazines are the exact same height and width from front to back.  The difference is in the width from side to side, where the XD is about 1/8" wider and won't fit in the Witness frame.

In order to get a magazine that size into the grip of the Witness, the dimensions of the grip would have to be enlarged enough to accommodate the extra width, making the grip too large for most hands.

The XD accommodates the magazine by making the walls of the grip very thin, which is easier to do with polymer than with steel, which then needs grip panels added.

Hope this helps.

10 is all she wrote for the EAA 45 mag.  You can do two things to get around this if you want to:

Buy an EAA 10mm - 14 + 1 capacity and a lot more hitting power than a 45.

If you're into tinkering AND handloading, you can take your EAA 45 up to 45 Super (need 45 Super brass, lotsa heavy springs, a Sprinco recoil reducer, and Magnaporting) that will essentially make it a 10 + 1 41 Magnum automatic (700 ft-lbs per shot :eek )  except the bullet will be 45 caliber.

Fred will probably explain to you that I am as big a maniac as Paul Richter is an asshat, which is going some....  :hat
