Greetings all!
This is my first .40 S&W firearm and am looking to try out an ammo that is CLOSE to a 170PF without having to reload JUST YET. Ive got a buddy whos got a giant box of .40 brass and would be willing to help me get setup with my own, but thats for another day.
Ive personally had pretty good luck with the Speer Lawman 147gr 9mm stuff. I wouldn't hate keeping my ammo stash nice and tidy with a wall of dark blue boxes either.
My concern is the heavy recoil spring in my P-09. It just seems like (and ive read elsewhere) the casings are basically going to tumble out of the ejector port and thats just not something id be satisfied with. How low can/should I go on the recoil spring with a ~175 PF ammo?
Sorry, I'm not too clear on what caliber you're asking.
Your title reflects a question about 40S&W, but the question you ask seems to pertain to P-09 which comes in both 40 & 9mm. Can you specify the caliber in the body of the text,
please.
However, the answer is... we can make a good guess, but no one knows. Some experimentation on your part is required. I can tell you this fact.... when you call
Wolff Spring you'll want to order
several recoil spring "weights". The reason being that the springs are ~$12, but their shipping is ~$9 for 1 or 10. So it only makes since to order a 16#, 14#, 12#, etc and experiment.
You'll want the casing to eject about 6 feet.
