P01 Magazine Issues
« on: April 01, 2017, 03:52:41 AM »
Hi All,

I recently purchased a brand new CZ 75 P01. The only issue I have is with the magazine (not sure if it's a magazine problem). Please let me know if this is a common thing with new P01 pistols.

First the 2 minor ones:

1. This is more cosmetic then anything but the gun tends to scratch the magazines. This happens when I eject the mags and remove it with my hand instead of letting it drop. This doesn't always happen but enough to where there are scratch marks on both magazines now. Is this common?

2. When ejecting the magazine it doesn't fall out completely. It will start to fall out about a fourth of the way then stop. I would then have to use my hand to remove it. This happens to both magazines and it doesn't happen all the time. Maybe 1 out of 10 times this occurs, maybe less. Does anyone know whats going on?

Now for major one:

3. This only happens to one of the magazine. The other magazine works fine. When I go to manually rack the slide the first bullet will not go completely into the chamber. It will either get completely stuck or I would have to force it into the chamber by pushing the slide forward. After this, the pistol functions fine with no shooting problems unless I manually rack the slide again with the same magazine and with the first bullet. Is this a magazine problem or pistol? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks for your help.

1.  The scratching is perfectly normal. My CZ mags are all well worn. That's the nature of the beast. ANY metal framed gun with metal bodied mags is going to exhibit wear in short order. 2. When you drop the mags are you holding the release in until the mag falls free? If so the mag brake may need to be adjusted to release tension on the mag. Possibly the gun ended up with a European mag brake in it which will not let the mag fall free. They do it different over there.
3.  Lastly when you manually rack the slide are you drawing it back and letting it slingshot forward or are you guiding it home by hand? How does it feed the 1st round if you lock the slide back first and let it fly forward? If it still doesn't feed properly when properly dropping the slide by slingshot or dropping the release then give CZ-USA a call. They can warranty the mag if it's defective.

What SI VIS said.
I'll also add, did you pull your mags apart and clean all the factory gunk out of them? As far as the mags dropping sometimes, take a bit of car polish and apply to outside if clean mags and buff. Works great.

Your grips tightened too much?  Too much and the mags won't drop free.

I would press and hold the mag release in until the mag fall free. This only happens occasionally. Most of the time it fall free.

I would guide it home by hand. After a few tries it starts to function fine. When shooting the gun it function fine.

Thanks for the tips, will give it a try.

No, did not pull mag apart and clean. Will give that a try. Thanks

So I should loosen the grip screws. Will do that. Thanks
