P-07 Kadet on Duty Model?
« on: April 19, 2017, 07:39:28 PM »
Hello everyone,
This is my first post on the forum.  I have drifted around the glock/ruger/walther/hk forums.  After shooting most semi-auto handguns under the sun, I've settled on the P-07.
I actually shot the P-07 more accurately than my Q5 match (which has since been sold).  Surprisingly, the PPQ M2 magazine worked in my P-07 Duty.  Figured that out by accident.
I bought the Duty used, and the previous owner bent a spring that has rendered the safety useless and the decocker unpredictable.  It also came with a nice set of frame bulges.  But I still love the thing.
I have just ordered a kadet kit for the gun, but have seen mixed info on whether or not it will work for the Duty model.  Does anyone have any experience with the kit?
If no one has any experience with it, I will test as many types of ammo as I can and check back in to let others know whether or not it is worth the investment.  The advantage arms kit for my glock was awesome.  Since I try and shoot 200-300 rounds every week, I'm hoping this kit will work just as well.  It's hard to justify $50 per week in ammo.
Any input is appreciated.

My P-07 Kadet is on my OD Green Duty 07 now. It likes standard velocity CCI. The magazines are poly and don't come close to dropping free. But no biggie as my 16rd metal 9mm mags don't either. Only Gen 2 mags fall out. No biggie. Just what I've observed in approx 500 RDA. Also. Quiet 22 CCI didn't cycle. No surprise. Aquila had one failure to extract. Just 1rd out of 50. No biggie

The Kadet kit designed for the 07 should function fine for you mounted on the older frame. I would be more concerned about the inoperative safety. This should be a simple fix as there is only one spring involved and very little disassembly required. Replacement parts are available from Cajun Gun Works($9.00 + shipping). Simply remove the left side safety lever. There should be a spring fit into a hole in the lever and a chevron that sits against it to keep the lever from floating. Since the Kadet is a blowback operated slide, the use of standard or high velocity ammo is recommended. 22 ammo is the dirtiest ammo out there so the top end will need more frequent cleaning, say 300- 400 rnds. Don't try to go 2400. I have used CCI, Remington, Winchester in 1000 - 1600 fps loads. My most accurate ammo has been Blazer.

I run a Kadet kit on my P07/.40 Duty with no issues.  If you have done a lot of CGW mods to the early P07, the Kadet kit might cause issues in operation though.  I won't run the Kadet kit on my P07/9 for that reason.  With the full CGW tune, I'm getting hammer follow on that one.  I did not do the tune to that P07 though and don't know what size the factory roller was, so it may be an issue of the installed roller is too small to disconnect properly.  The P07 with the Kadet kit is a lot of fun to shoot though.
