Nazi marked CZ24?
« on: March 09, 2017, 09:52:33 PM »
I picked up this CZ24 frame on gunbroker with the intention of stripping it to get parts for my other CZ24s. When it arrived today, I noticed the mark pictured below.  Am I correct in guessing that this is a Nazi mark?  Is this a rare or valuable variation worth trying to rebuild, or should I go ahead with my plans to strip it?  I have only the frame. No magazine, slide, barrel, or other "upper" parts. The frame is marked J lion 31 & has a 107,xxx serial number. There are no unit markings on it & the bluing is worn to shiny metal in many places & has many rust spots forming.

Yes--that mark is one which was put on guns by the NAZIs.

I'm not an expert of the rarity of these, I have been researching CZ24s and have purchased one at a gun show several weeks ago.

There have been several up for sale on Gunbroker.com and Collectors Firearms in Houston has one in good condition with holster for ~$700.

If there are no other marks and since you don't have the matching slide, barrel or mag with matching numbers, I would venture a guess that it is okay for you to strip it for parts.

I've never seen a CZ-24 with that marking.  There are a lot of bogus Nazi marked things out there -  I've seen a 1947 Mosin M44 carbine with fake Nazi markings, and SS marked Mosin ammo pouches from the 1950's and 1960's.   It could be fake, but usually the fraudulent Nazi  eaglemarks one sees are rather  large and cartoonish.  If it is real, it might be worth something to someone who needs or wants it, so I'd do a little research before parting it out.

That looks like a real one to me. The fake ones were usually larger and placed in an area that was very noticeable. I have actually seen a few,.....very few mostly captured and used by the nazi. The Navy is the prime example. If you had one of those you would be one lucky bastard!

I guess since you dont have the full gun, it will never be more than a composite.

I have a cz 36 thats the same way.

Good catch though!

I've decided to strip only the wood grips from this frame. I've got a set of plastic grips & a CZ27 slide to put on it. All I need for a complete CZ27 is a barrel. Does anybody know where to get one cheap?  I'd also like to try putting a period correct phosphate finish on this composite pistol so it all matches. Does anybody know how to do it?
