CZ75 First Model
« on: April 29, 2017, 05:10:02 PM »
I finally have my dream CZ.  It's a CZ75 first model.  I purchased it from the original owner who bought it in South Africa in 1977 when he was just 14.  He came to the US in 1979 with his parents and they were able to bring it with them.  Fortunately, the original owner was pretty particular about it, so the pistol came with the original box, manual, test target and import documents.  It cost me the paltry sum of $1,700.  The overall condition is a strong very good.  The bluing is deep with a few minor scratches, some wear at the muzzle and wear around the front and back of the grip.  I couldn't be more pleased.  It now rests in a new CZ factory case.

BTW, for those not familiar with the model, here's a good video from Larry Vickers about the first model.

Very nice and great score. The safety lever looks like it's a "plum" color as discussed in another recent thread on pre-B bluing? Are you going to shoot it? [emoji4]

I'm absolutely going to shoot it.  I'll probably install a new recoil spring fire as I doubt the original has ever been replaced.

Let us know how it feels and performs on the range. Go easy on the original grips and slide stop....swap them out if you're going to shoot it a bit. You can also try a lighter mainspring for subsequent range sessions for the DA. I've only gone down to the #15-17 for these older pistols.

Hey Bret
Sweet Pistol .... great story behind it too
Have always liked the Short Rail CZs

What's the story with the (seemingly) miss matched Serial Number ?
I can see that you may have altered it a bit for the picture
But the numbers that are still visible, seem to look like it's two different numbers
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Very very nice purchase. I love it.  Happy it has found a good home.  Like everyone else let us know how it shoots.

I did alter the picture, but it's definitely the same serial number.  I'm very fortunate that the original owner was particular about keeping things in order.

Very nice CZ!

It's pretty rare to find a shortrail with the test target.

Awesome find bud!

If only we could find them this side (South Africa) in that condition I'd be stoked!
