P09 issues with moly coated bullets
« on: May 25, 2017, 03:25:25 PM »
hi all,

finally got a chance yesterday to take my new to me 09 to the range and couldn't get it to chamber the 115 gn moly bullets that i shoot in all my other 9's.  Any of you guys reloading and moly ones if so what brand?  I guess the 09 just has a tighter barrel than my other pistols.  Thanks in advance

I ran into the same problems when I tried to shoot Acme 124gr and a friend echoed with SNS 124.
I had to go to an OAL of 1.080 which is where I usually do JHP.
Problems were only on P-07 and 09. CZ75BD and SP-01 fed them with no problems.
In P-09  the Acme bullets would feed and fire ok buy whem trying to unload after a match stage, I could not pull the slide back to eject last round.
On plunk test some rounds barely stuck and others dropped free.

thanks Frank, I've been using shooters bullets (bought a bunch at a good price) but it appears they might be going out of business no product basically there anymore.  I've been getting ready to order some new coated bullets so I'll need to make sure they are closer in thickness with jacketed.  These ones won't chamber at all too thick with the moly on them.  I have the Scorpion Evo and it loves these and so does my Sig 229 guess I need to find something different for the 09.
