I believe a 'shortage' is only due to those calibers that aren't used by military forces. That is, 9mm will there always be plenty of, unless it goes so far, that you're running out of brass, to produce more cartridges. Or chemicals to make the gunpowder.

The 'shortage' is a result of the producers prioritizing the big military orders of 500.000+. As long as there is fighting in the sandbox, there will be less, and more expensive .416 Rigby's :x

The price-hike? That must be marketing.

Call Wolff what you want, but in my AK and Uzi, the steel cased stuff shoots accurately (enough) and reliably.  I don't reload and don't have a scope on either of them so for blasting cans and paper, the value of Wolff is what I'm looking for.

Now if I could find some...

I would also like to add that Wolf .22lr is some of the best stuff out there. Not to mention that the Wolf Gold line is brass cased and very, very accurate out of my 550.
