I recently emailed Tristar with a couple questions about the CZ clone lines. One of the answers I received back from Tristar was that all the slides were cast, rather than forged. This seemed strange to me since at least one of their models has a forged steel frame (C100 in 40sw).

I emailed Canik directly with a few questions and here are the answers:

All slides are forged parts.

Barrels are not cold hammer forged.

The C100 uses a 7075 T6 aluminum frame. (I was already pretty sure about this since the L120 is listed as using 7075 T6 on their website)

I responded by asking whether the C100 is forged 7075 or cast and I am waiting for their reply.

The owner's manual with my C-100 says, "barrel manufactured using Cold Forging Technology". Does that mean it's a similar process, but not hammer forged?

What year is yours?

I bought mine this year and the manual has no mention of cold forging. He may be mistaken but I see no mention of cold hammer forging on their website or in their current manuals.

I am curious whether Canik stopped cold hammer forging barrels altogether.

If you look at Canik USA's website, they have dropped all mention of cold hammer forged barrels on their TP9 series and it currently reads:

"Every barrel is match grade machined and produced with button rifle technology. "

I think mine is a 2012. There's a -12 in the serial number.

My 2013 C-100 owners manual says "Barrel manufactured using Cold Forging Technology", and it also says "all internal parts chromed plated".

My 2015 P-100 says the exact same thing.

2017 manual makes no mention of how the barrels are made.

Interesting, my 2013 and 2015 models must be better since they are cold forged... :)
