So I needed a project that wasn't going to cost me 500-600 right off the bat to start... So after owning many cz 75 series pistols ( 5 to be exact) that I shot uspsa with and heavily modified and sold over the years . I knew I wanted an all steel cz style design. I found the eaa tanfoglio witness steel #999111 ea9b small frame in 9mm and decided to give it a go. It takes mec-gar cz magazines and is pretty similar to the cz 75. I paid 337 after tax, shipping, and ffl fee. The grips right off the bat had to go but i'm broke , so i shaved the center shiny pats down with a sanding bit on my dremel then used a fine tip on my soldering iron to stipple that area then used 400 to 1000 grit to smooth it down a bit. So the grips I feel look better but they aren't perfect but that's what makes it unique and free upgrade (see pics). Next I decided to black out the rear sight and paint the front sight . I used a small metal pick to clean out the white paint along with some rubbing alcohol and it worked perfectly. I went with red paint in the front sight for now because I'm used to a red fiber optic in the sun and I wont be shooting in the dark with it . I'm also looking at wither buying the battlehook rear sight or buying a sight set and having the front milled to fit. Let me know if you have any information on which set to use or if you have any exp with the battlehook rear sight please. I am also looking to put in a wolff extra power extractor spring because I had one failure to extract when I took it out to shoot . As for the holster I used a glock 19 uncle mikes belt holster. Took the screws out and put in a plastic spacer as well as a tek lok attachment I had laying around. the gun fits snug and has enough retention to hold it upside down. Information on this make and model pistol is pretty hard to come by so if you have any information regarding upgrades and where to find them or like which weight springs to use (hammer spring, recoil spring) please let me know
As for the first range trip I just shot 100 rounds for a feel of the gun, trigger, and accuracy . one fte and everything else went smooth.
