Miss my Tri Star C100
« on: May 30, 2017, 07:43:17 PM »
I have wanted a PO7 for a long time.  Being on a fixed income I had to make a choice.  I have a SD9VE I would never sell.  With an Apex trigger, complete polish of all internal parts and a few internal adjustments , weight and overall feel in the hand and its accuracy.... it is near perfect.  Getting the most for the C100, I sold it and another gun for the cash to get a great deal on the P07, and I am very pleased with it.   The P07 gets better and better each trip to the range but I miss the C100.  To me it was better out of the box shooter than the P07, and I like the CZ 75 compact style a lot.  No regrets about selling the guns to buy CZ...will like it even more when Buds Gun Shop raises the pups for the dog sled that obviously is their chosen method to send my Kadet Kit for the P07!!

I've owned a P07, and sold it to get the C100. I too have no regrets about doing so...but miss the P07. Casually, I'm looking to snatch a Gen 2 up at a decent deal. That or a P09.

In my opinion, they're both excellent firearms and one couldn't go wrong with owning either....if both isn't a possibility.

I often find I miss firearms I've traded off or sold.  Some I may choose to replace or re-purchase at a later time, when funds are available.
Some just did not work out and I'll never buy one of those again.

My old Polymer 9mm Witness was given to one of my Nephews, who needed a Pistol for Home Defense and occasional Target Practice.
Later on, when I found a deal on an SAR B6P, I considered my Polymer 9mm Witness, replaced.

Lucky for you guys, TriStar C100's and Cz P07's will most likely continue to be made.

I have a SD9VE I would never sell.  With an Apex trigger, complete polish of all internal parts and a few internal adjustments , weight and overall feel in the hand and its accuracy.... it is near perfect.

I have the earlier S&W SW9VE, with a minor Trigger job, that I'm quite fond of.

Same here. I miss my Beretta 92FS that I sold over 15 years ago. Someday I'll buy another...maybe the M9A3...but not before I buy some more CZs!!!

How does the C100 stack up against the PCR? I have been considering a PCR but the C100 priced at just over $300 seems like a great deal.

Truthfully, I would take the PCR.  The Tri Star is a clone.  Although CGW is doing a lot more with Canik guns it still does not have the aftermarket parts a CZ has.  Also..very important in the global business today is , do not forget Canik firearms are made in Turkey and the country and its politics with the USA could deteriorate in a split second. The extra money for the CZ is well worth it.  I bought the C100, only because I did not have the money for the P01 I wanted at the time. It was a great gun.  Buy the PCR new and find a used C100 is a good option.

Thanks for the response. I have never owned or even shot a Canik. Everyone talks about how good they are for the money. Your comments are in line with the way I was leaning anyway. The PCR was the next CZ on my list to get so I will just stay with that plan.

No way in hell CZs are $300 nicer than Tristar pistols not are you getting $300 more gun with the PCR. What you're getting is a pistol that can be sold easier on the secondary market. Tristar/Canik pistols are simply the best bang for your buck in the firearms industry today. Everything that "needs" to be upgraded on a tristar can be done with CGW. You just might not be able to play Barbies with it and make it especially purdy. I'm in the same market as you, a PCR or a C100 and it's a no brainer for me.

I guess I need to see if any local gun ranges have a C100 to rent or if any local gun shops have one to handle. Unlikely, but I guess the best way to make the decision is to actually handle and or shoot one. I have borrowed and shot a PCR and loved it but a clone at $300.00 is a great price.

The C100 is a bit lighter than the PCR and has a safety where the PCR has a de-cocker. IIRC, the beavertail is a bit more upswept on the PCR. Both great guns, but there are more differences than price.

Exactly!  When I owned my C100 I felt it was every bit as good as a PCR. It shot great, was reliable and I had the "chrome" model that only cost $385...much cheaper than the PCR or CZ 75 Compact. Granted CGW did not have the mod kits they have now for Canik firearms, but still a long way to go to be 100% equal to a PCR or PO-1.  Parts availability , and the stupid retaining barrel bushing of the C100 are the things I hated the most.
