CZ-52 barrel woes

When I last fired my CZ-52, then brought it back inside to clean it, I popped off the slide, then pulled the barrel/recoil spring and proceeded to run my brush and patches through. That's when I noticed that one of the small "pins" (?) on the rolling block had fallen free and was on my table. Of course, I was quick to pick it up. Didn't want to lose that. But when I went to put it back where it belongs, I noticed that the little lip on the barrel that is supposed to retain it was chipped. It would no longer keep the pin in place without the barrel being inserted back into the slide. Once in the slide, there's no room for it to wiggle free, so I can't lose it that way.

But what concerns me is, is it safe to shoot in this condition? Is there any way to have this repaired?

If the answer to both of these is "No", then I have one one other question. I did look around to see how much it would cost to replace the barrel, and the prices are not reassuring. Except for one place.

The question on this is, is this the correct barrel? It doesn't look quite right to me. It also doesn't come with the pins and block. Will I be able to use my old pins and block with it?

The cheapest I've found a barrel anyplace else was $120, which is pretty high for me, especially in a gun that I rarely can afford the ammo to shoot. Other places had prices as high as $300.

I had to go take my CZ52 apart to understand what "pin" you were referring to.

I now see what you mean.

I wouldn't suggest trying to fire it with the lip that hold the pin in place gone.  If it chipped, it must be a load-bearing part.

Repair I would think would be out-of-the-question.

The photo of the barrel at the link you provided does look like the correct CZ52 barrel.

You should be able to use your roller block assembly with it.

That's a reasonable price for a barrel. I bought a spare (I think from Numrich a few years ago) for about that price.

PPU and S&B make 7.62x25 ammo, and I've found the PPU for as low as $15/box recently.

Thank  you both very much for your speedy replies. While I'm disappointed with the idea of not being able to repair my barrel  (it's original, with the matching serial numbers from the frame, slide and barrel), I wouldn't want to risk more damage to the firearm, or more importantly, any bystanders or myself. I will, of course, keep the current barrel, if only so I have all the original components.

It may be some time before I can get a new barrel, since I'm currently trying to get setup for reloading. But if you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to know where you're finding that great deal on ammo. The only other place I've found it in regular supply is at Academy, and it's $28/50 rounds for Winchester.

After I picked up my CZ52 at the SAXET gun show in Corpus Christi, I found S&B 7.62x25mm Tokarev at R&M in El Campo.  They have a lot of unusual ammo.

I mainly order from Cheaper-Than-Dirt (CTD) or use Ammo-to-Go to find deals:

After reading some of the horror stories, I don't ever plan on using the old surplus Russian ammo which is so acidic that you need to wash your barrel with water first after shooting!

For my C&R weapons, I like to stick with Sellier & Bellot--they manufacture to the European dimensional standards for which the guns were originally designed.
